This week on the LGBTQ&A podcast, Camgirl author Isa Mazzei discussed her new memoir about her year-and-a-half as a live-streaming porn model. It’s a frank book about taboo topics, but it also reveals how much work goes into the job: she spent the majority of her time on show prep, coming up with fresh content to keep her regular viewers engaged, and answering private messages and emails from fans.
Then she had to make a living from her streaming earnings, which meant putting in hours of extra work in the studio — cleaning, dressing up, and rehearsing scenes. Mazzei describes her work as exhausting, and her relationships with men as toxic. She explains why she quit camming in the end, and how her experience has reshaped her views on sexual consent.
Asking for nudes can be intimidating, but it’s important to approach the situation maturely and respectfully. It’s also vital to remember that not every girl wants to send you pictures of her naked body, and that she has the right to choose who she shares those photos with. If she says no, don’t beg or plead; it will only turn her off.
Instead, try to build up to the request gradually. Start by complimenting her body, then ask for a picture of her in her bra or thong. Then, once you’ve established a mutual interest in one another, you can ask for more intimate photos. But be sure to always thank her for her compliance; it’s a huge sacrifice to share those photos, and she deserves your gratitude.
