In our capitalist society everything has a monetary value and female beauty is no exception. Cam girls sell a highly addictive product that men become addicted to – a girl talking to them on camera makes them feel special and gives them dopamine hits every time they tip her. They want to do it more and more, which leads to a vicious cycle.
In Mia’s case, it also means she doesn’t have any other men in her life (apart from her sexy stepbrother who is always trying to horn in on her sessions). The fact that she uses her work and her body as a weapon against Garret seems weird and judgy especially when she tries to make him jealous of her other clients.
The story is an interesting and nuanced look at the unshakeable grip of past trauma in a woman’s mind. I really enjoyed reading it and found Mia to be a pleasant surprise in her boldness, confidence and sense of self. Despite her flaws and the fact that she can be very harsh towards other cam girls, I think this is a story worth telling.
