As part of our LGBTQ&A podcast series, author Isa Mazzei discussed her new memoir Camgirl. It chronicles her year and a half spent living and working as a camgirl, where she performed intimate acts for an online audience. In the interview, she talked about the hard work that goes into camming and why it isn’t as easy as people think.
For example, Cam Girls must constantly come up with fresh show ideas, remember their viewers’ birthdays and respond to private messages. They also sell an addictive product – men get dopamine hits from seeing a girl naked and even more from spending tokens on her.
It takes some acclimating to read about these taboo topics, but Mazzei’s frank conversation-starter is refreshing in its breezy honesty and self-awareness.
